For this review, I reviewed the nicotine gum known as SmokTone and its nicotine replacement products, also known as a "nicotine gum," or "cigalike." The nicotine gum is designed to be taken up by the stomach, but when swallowed, the nicotine gets absorbed into the bloodstream and is metabolized in the liver. After the nicotine has been absorbed by the liver, it is then transferred into the body in the form of nicotine crystals. If a user has to quit smoking, the nicotine will still be in the body after the gum has been taken up and metabolized by the liver. The nicotine is a psychoactive substance that, when used in a way that promotes craving and leads to the smoking of tobacco products, will lead to nicotine addiction. The nicotine addiction is caused by nicotine withdrawal, which is when the user experiences intense craving for nicotine and craving for more nicotine, until it is too late to stop. Although it is possible to quit smoking with nicotine gum or gum and patches, it is very difficult and requires a long time to achieve an effective nicotine patch or gum. I will describe a few strategies to help people quit smoking and how to get nicotine replacement products that will help.
